Do Stretching Exercises Rather Than Medication For Lower Back Pain
Do Stretching Exercises Rather Than Medication For Lower Back Pain
One of the unfortunate benefits of growing older is lower back pain and it can be because of an injury, or just the result of years of lifting children, groceries, or bending over constantly cleaning the house, or doing dishes. There are many reasons that your back will begin to hurt, but a lot of it is with age you lose the elasticity you once had. The easiest solution is the one most people don't want to do, and that is to do stretching exercises for the pain in their lower back.
The way a lot of people live their life, it is inevitable they will end up with back pain. People who play a lot of sports early in life, and then continue them as they age, will find a time when their bodies are in a lot of pain. People who are in car accidents don't have a lot of control over their pain unless their reckless driving caused the accident. Most people prefer to treat their back pain with medication, which can be helpful, but at the same time very detrimental. With really bad pain, you might need pain medication or a muscle relaxer, but in either case they only mask the pain, without dealing with the root cause of the problem. If you never get the problem fixed, but only deal with symptoms, the problem will never go away.
Medication is not the best way to deal with the pain, as stretching exercises will be much more effective. The only problem with stretching is that it takes dedication and work and even though it will work better and save people from being on dangerous drugs, most people would rather take a pill. The greatest benefit of stretching is that it is a natural solution and you won't become addicted to pain medication and its adverse side-effects.
Once you get started doing stretching exercises, not only will it make your lower back feel better, but it will strengthen it in order to prevent future injuries. That is something pain medication can't do, in fact taking medication will probably make your back weaker and more prone to injuries. Any exercise that makes your body stronger by strengthening core muscles, is equipping your body to handle whatever comes on it. The more your lower back is able to flex and bend, the less chance it will be in pain. Doing exercises to keep your back muscles limber and flexible, will keep your body from tightening up due to the stress you put on it each day.
When you do exercises to benefit your lower back, they also benefit the rest of your body. Your entire cardiovascular system can be helped with these exercises, which will improve your immune system, keeping you more healthy. It will always be in your best interest to stay active and do stretching exercises, in order to remain healthy and the next time you are contemplating taking some pill, do some stretching exercises instead.
