Tools You Will Need To Remodel Your Kitchen
The tools you will need to remodel your kitchen depend on how extensive your project is going to be and how much of the work you plan to do yourself. If you are going to do the entire kitchen, you will need some tools to remove the cabinets and flooring. Your first job is to get everything out of your kitchen, so you will need a hammer, a crowbar, a power screwdriver, and a saws-all at a minimum.
Most cabinets are held up by screws, so the screwdriver is needed to get the cabinets out without doing too much damage to the walls. If you want to try to use the cabinets somewhere else, you will want to be careful getting them down. If you are just throwing them away, you don't have to be concerned with damaging the doors or hinges. To get the upper cabinets down and out-of-the-way, you will also need a step ladder. You might find it easier to take the lower cabinets out first, and to do that you will need to get the appliances out-of-the-way, and remove the kitchen sink. If you don't have a plumber for that, you will need wrenches or pliers to uninstall the sink, and garbage disposal, if you have one.
Before removing the lower cabinets, you will need to get the countertops off, and this might be easier by sawing them into pieces, so you will need a saw also. Once the cabinets are all out, it will be easy to pull up the flooring, whether it is tile or linoleum. At this point, everything should be out of the kitchen, so you can inspect the walls, and if need be, replace the sheet rock. Maybe all you will need to do is patch up all of the holes, and only re-texture the walls and ceiling. Next you can repaint the ceiling and walls, and replace the electrical plugs and switches. Doing this all yourself, you will need drywall supplies, painting supplies, such as paint brushes, and electrical tools. If you have done any work around the house before, you might already have most of these tools.
When you have the painting finished, you should put down new underlayment, which can be nailed down with a hammer or a nail gun, or screwed down with a power screw driver. The same power screw driver can be used to hang the upper cabinets, and also the lower cabinets. Some people like installing the flooring, mainly when linoleum is used, and then putting the cabinet on top of the flooring, but most people install the cabinets first. Next, you install the countertops, put in a new sink, hook up the plumbing, case around the windows and doors, finish the base, replace the appliances, and you have a new kitchen.
Some people already have the tools needed to do the job and also the experience. For others, not only will it be a learning experience, but quite a few tools will need to be purchased.
