Take The Question Out Of Pregnancy With These Helpful Tips
It can be the most exciting time in your life, as well as, the most overwhelming. Pregnancy can be a breeze for some women but for some women, it can mean month after month of morning sickness. Knowing what to expect and what you can do to make your pregnancy as easy as possible, can be a big help. Here are just a few tips to, hopefully, make your pregnancy more enjoyable.
Baby
Increase your intake of cereals, asparagus, lentils, oranges and orange juice. These foods are all rich in folic acid, which helps the development of the baby's neural cord and creates red blood cells for your unborn child. It is ideal to begin consuming these foods even before you start trying to conceive.
Do not be scared to ask for help with lifting things when you are a pregnant. Lifting heavy things can cause miscarriages or stress on your baby, not to mention that it can cause back strains. Instead, have someone else lift heavy objects for you, even if you do not think it is dangerous to lift it.
Labor
Check into hiring a doula for your birth experiences and for the period right after. Doulas are mothers' helpers who are there to provide non-medical support during the labor process and the post partum period. Having a doula will help you to have a shorter and more satisfying birth experience.
If you are pregnant you need to make sure to exercise on a regular basis. This will decrease your chances of suffering a miscarriage, reduce the amount of time you are in labor, and it will make it easier to go back to your regular size after you give birth.
Expect
Most new mothers know that breast-feeding is best for a newborn baby. Breast-feeding comes naturally to most women, but it helps to take a class on the subject and learn what to expect as well as what to do if you should have any problems! Remember: Breast is best!
If you can not attend a birthing class due to unexpected reasons or lack of classes available, be sure to ask your doctor or other health professional to go through the stages of birth with you. While it is an exciting thing to give birth, it can also be scary and you should know what to expect during the process. Do not be shy with your questions!
Delivery
Get as much sleep as possible. When the baby arrives, it will be difficult for you to get the rest that you need, so it is important to find the time now to relax and de-stress. Extra sleep will also provide you with the energy that you need to stay active and maintain a baseline level of fitness leading up to your delivery.
Before you get pregnant, you ideally want to be exercising regularly. There are a variety of classes that are targeted to women who are pregnant in their different trimesters. Exercise has many benefits that will keep you and your baby healthy during your pregnancy, and even make the delivery much easier for you.
Stages
Try not drive alone during the later stages of your pregnancy, just in case you were to go into labor. Being alone in your car when you water breaks can mean you will be yourself when you deliver. This could cause your baby to be born improperly and can cause health problems for you.
Provided that your doctor has not expressly forbidden it, continuing to have intimate relations with your partner while you are pregnant will not harm the baby. Nor is the baby aware of what you are doing. Certain positions may not be possible in the later stages of pregnancy but there is no reason you cannot continue to be intimate for as long as you feel comfortable with it.
Development
Make sure that the prenatal vitamin you take during your pregnancy contains the recommended amount of folic acid. This essential vitamin helps to prevent the occurrence of neural tube defects like spina bifida and plays a significant role in tissue development and cell formation in your growing baby, as well.
Try taking your prenatal vitamins at night. These pills, while essential for the proper growth and development of your baby, can make some mothers feel nauseous. Taking them before you lay down or with food can help your body adjust to their effects. If you need to take them during the day, try chewing gum afterwards.
Signs
Learn the signs of labor so that you will know when it is time to call the doctor and start heading to the hospital. We have all heard the stories of women giving birth in the car on the way. The earlier you can respond to labor starting, the more time you give yourself to get to where you need to go.
Realize that "morning" sickness can happen at any time of the day and check with your doctor if it seems really bad. Most new parents are only affected by morning sickness during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is usually one of the first signs that a women picks up on to signify that she may be pregnant. If it is keeping you from being able to keep down any food, see your doctor for ideas on how to help.
Guide
When you are trying to conceive, you must take the necessary time to prepare beforehand. Typically, it is best for you to start getting things in order three months before conception. This way, you have sufficient time to get yourself healthy and develop a rapport with an obstetrician that will be your guide once you are pregnant.
Be sure to educate yourself about your pregnancy. Choose a book that you will read that will guide you through your pregnancy. There are many books out there that take you through you pregnancy week by week and will answer any questions you may have. Be aware though that you will not experience everything that you read since each pregnancy is different.
Nutrition
The most important thing that you can do for your body and your baby when you are pregnant is to take your prenatal vitamins. They are going to give you the necessary nutrition to deliver a healthy and happy baby. Find a vitamin through your doctor or at the pharmacy.
Your nutrition now that you are pregnant, is more important than ever. Not only are you needing more energy and strength just to get through the day, but your baby also needs lots of vitamins and minerals to develop properly. Make sure you eat several solid meals each day and work in items from each major food group.
Birth
There is much to learn about pregnancy, from conception to birth. It can be fun as well as informative to buy or check out books on the subject. Familiarize yourself with each stage of pregnancy and the possible complications to look out for. Be proactive and in charge of your pregnancy.
When pregnant, make sure you are 100% comfortable with the doctor or OB/GYN who will be delivering your child. If you are not, search for another one until you are. Ask questions when you need an answer, there is nothing your doctor has not heard before. And make sure you check out the delivery facilities prior to the birth so you are completely comfortable with where your child will be born. All these things will ensure that your pregnancy is calmer and less stressful.
Parents
Many expectant parents opt for baby gift-registry. This allows parents to choose gifts they really need and makes gift-buying easier for others. Be sure to register for gifts in all price ranges and don't forget essentials like bottles, bibs, and even diapers!
When you become pregnant, make sure to tell your boyfriend or husband as soon as possible if he does not know already. It is under your discretion as to when you should tell your parents and friends as you should only do this when you feel comfortable in revealing this information.
Pregnancy can be an exciting and wonderful time for many women. The more tips and suggestions that you have under your belt for how to handle your pregnancy with a minimum of discomfort, the more enjoyable these next few months will be for you and for your baby!
